The story of seeds and how they grow

The story of seeds...
We spent our morning learning about seeds and then planting seeds.
We read The Story of Seeds and How They Grow from Richard Scarry's book.

During the story, we talked about all the seeds we were going to plant.

We got to look at Abby's green pepper plant she planted a few weeks ago.

Then we counted pea seeds.  I'll try to upload a video of her counting them.

We read the book Titch.  Titch planted a seed and it grew and grew and grew!
We also read Jack and the Beanstalk.

Then we went outside and got our hands dirty!  We planted: parsley, chives, cilantro and oregano for the kitchen window.  We then planted our veggies in the little greenhouses to get them started.  What veggies?  giant caesar lettuce, mesclun mix, pickling cucumbers, regular cucumbers, roma tomatoes, brandywine red tomatoes, sweet green and red peppers, summer squash, scallions green beans, and peas.  We also planted sunflowers since Abby enjoyed them so much last year.
Between our little veggie patch and our veggie share thru the CSA (community supported agriculture) we will be eating well this summer!
