caps, pies and butterflies

We read Caps for Sale this week and Abby had fun putting on all of her caps, just like the peddler.
She kept trying to walk around without the caps falling off, but with no luck!  It was funny watching her try!

Our CSA share started this week.  CSA stands for community supported agriculture.  How does this work?  We pre-paid the farm for our organically grown fruits and veggies in the spring.  This allows the farmer to have the money when he needs it...to buy seeds and supplies.  As the growing begins, we get a "share" of the fruits and veggies each week.  We get to celebrate with the farmer when their is an abundance and we also get to share in any crop failures as well.  It's just nice to know where our food is coming from and to support a local farm.
The first few weeks of our shares are small since there isn't much growing yet.  This week, we had rhubarb, leeks and asparagus.  I made a strawberry-rhubarb pie.  I also made the crust from scratch...a first for me.

Abs and I have spent 12 hours of the past two days...outside.  We have had perfect weather outside and didn't want to miss out on any of it...even though we both have a head cold.
Abby cleaned all of her pool toys for me.  While she was busy washing her toys, a butterfly stopped by for a visit.  At first, we thought that the butterfly couldn't fly since he stayed around for so long.  Abby kept showing him how to flap his wings.  When that didn't work, she thought it would help him if she sang to him.  So, she sang "Jesus Loves Me" over and over and over again, while flapping her "wings"!  He finally few away and we were happy to see that the butterfly wasn't broken!
